Energy Agency Joins Call to Protect Warm Homes Plan Funding

The Energy Agency has joined leading organisations in signing a joint letter to the Chancellor, urging the Government to maintain investment in energy efficiency measures under the Warm Homes Plan. The letter warns that cutting funding for home insulation and low-carbon upgrades would jeopardise the UK’s climate goals, increase energy bills in the long term, and risk thousands of jobs in the green economy.

The Warm Homes Plan is seen as critical to reducing fuel poverty, enhancing energy security, and supporting economic growth. The letter highlights that removing £6 billion of planned investment between 2026 and 2030 would result in hundreds of thousands of missed home upgrades, disproportionately affecting low-income households.

The Energy Agency remains committed to promoting sustainable solutions that permanently lower energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. We strongly support calls for the Treasury to prioritise long-term measures over short-term fixes, ensuring affordable energy for all while meeting the UK’s carbon targets.
